I got my friend Alessandro’s thoughts and want to provide my interpretation of the times we live in, with a provocative style aimed to raise awareness.

In this fast-paced, mobile, and whirlwind Western world, the word “prospects” is associated with the possibility of growth, gain or loss, success or failure, or any other type of positive or negative development; perspectives allow us to stay in motion and continue to evolve in many directions.

The absence of prospects is instead associated with immobility, stagnation, at the loss of that fundamental moment to be able to continue evolution; some also take advantage of this possibility of being able to live without chasing a carrot hanging on a stick or continually raising the bar to get higher and higher.

In another part of the world, someone wakes up every day to sit on a pile of stones to be broken with a hammer and reduced to small stones to sell to make ends meet; so today, tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow without any prospect of change.
It is a reality that many young people experience in Africa where there is only an immutable daily destiny.

The opulent part of the world lives on prospects and dies if there are none, while the poorest part lives and dies in stagnation due to a destiny that associates roles without the possibility of redemption, but the destiny of these derelicts is a direct consequence of the choices of the richer part which, to maintain its privileges, sacrifices the development of the rest.

This great difference in perspectives can only be maintained with violence, with conflicts that continually bloodied the world and this is why we live in uncertain times. The myth of infinite growth has been wavering for some time and the continuous gap in wealth between the few who possess it and the multitude who lack it can only exacerbate conflicts, perhaps even fueling someone’s thirst for domination.

Under this scenario harbinger of dystopias where there are no leaders capable of changing the fate of the game and there is no different collective imagination anything can happen, but one thing is certain: the status quo cannot last long and the balance is destined to crack.

This is the time for courageous choices to create prospects of peaceful coexistence and universal justice because the loss of biodiversity and that of ideas have the same origin: inaction and the lack of utopias capable of designing a different future for the human race.
