A Simple Guide to Observing and Understanding Your True Self
We often think that we know everything about ourselves. Yet, daily life can show us how little we truly understand. For example, we may promise to exercise more, be kinder, or study harder, but then catch ourselves doing the exact opposite. This gap between our goals and our actions can reveal parts of ourselves that seem like strangers. However, learning to really observe who we are can help us discover our hidden strengths and possibilities.
Observing Yourself Like Someone Else
Rather than assuming that you know your personality inside and out, try observing yourself as if you are a stranger. Pay attention to the words you use when talking about goals, the stories you tell to explain your behavior, or the tasks you keep running away from. Notice how you act when you are surrounded by other people. Are you actually being warm and genuine, or are you just trying to impress them? Dig a bit deeper and ask yourself why certain tasks are always being put off. This detached perspective can teach you more than any snap judgment ever could.
