WHAT THE MOON DOES FOR THE EARTH AND US
The Moon makes Earth a more livable planet by moderating our home planet's wobble on its axis, leading to a relatively stable climate. It also causes tides, creating a rhythm that has guided humans for thousands of years.
An example of the importance of the Moon for our orbit can be seen in the example of our nearest neighbour Mars. Mars has no moon and its axial tilt changes by 10°. On Earth, which is larger than Mars, that change could be as much as 45°, which would play havoc with our seasons and make ice ages common. Life as we know it wouldn't be able to survive. If the moon disappeared, the length of a day on Earth would also become much shorter.
The Moon's gravitational pull is relatively weak compared to Earth's. Yet, the Moon's gravitational pull is responsible for Earth's current length of days, the stability of her seasons, and the regularity of the sea's tides.
What Would Happen If The Moon Disappeared?
It is the pull of the Moon's gravity on the Earth that holds our planet in place. Without the Moon stabilising our tilt, it is possible that the Earth's tilt could vary wildly. It would move from no tilt, which means no seasons, to a large tilt, which means extreme weather and even ice ages.
What Causes Tides?
High tides and low tides are both caused by the moon. The moon's gravitational pull generates the phenomenon of tidal force. The tidal force causes Earth—and its water—to bulge out on the side closest to the moon, as well as the side farthest from the moon. As the human body is made up of around 60% water, it is very likely that the Moon has a profound effect on our mental and emotional states. The brain and heart for example are made up of 73% water, the lungs 83% and the muscles and kidneys 79%. Only the bones are not made up predominantly of water, being only 31% fluid.
Does The Moon Affect Our Moods.
It has long been believed that the moon can affect your mood. This is not surprising when you consider how much of our body is made up of fluid and water. Although there are other factors involved in our negative and positive mood swings, the Moon can act as a trigger for negative states like anxiety and depression, as well as positive states, like sensitivity, creativity and of course romantic feelings of falling in love. The menstrual cycles of women are also thought to be influenced by the Moon.
Does The Moon Impact Sleep
Scientists aren’t exactly sure why the moon might affect our sleep. The bright luminous light from the full moon may affect the body’s internal clock and its production of melatonin, a hormone that promotes sleep. Lunar insomnia is marked by the moon having a negative impact on your ability to sleep. If you find yourself wired instead of tired come bedtime during a full moon, that could be considered lunar insomnia. Especially in cities, where nature disconnect is very common, people don’t realize their body’s energy is at its highest during a full moon. This rise in energy can also heighten your emotional symptoms, both positively and negatively.. For example, if you are a naturally anxious person, you may feel more anxious during a full moon.
If you are a creative or artistic person, you may feel the need to stay up very late and work on your latest novel, poem or painting.
When To Tune Into The Moon.

The energy of the full moon is still strong 3 days either side so don't worry if you aren't able to do a meditation, invocation or ceremony on the actual Full Moon day.
Doing Magic On The Full Moon.
Moon magic is inseparably connected with the Moon. There is a belief common to many cultures, including magical orders in our own culture, that working rituals at the time of different phases of the moon can bring about psychological or even physical changes in those who do them. These rituals have historically occurred on or around the full moon and to a lesser extent the new moon.
