Have you ever felt physically ill with only minor symptoms? Then day by day the symptoms increased until the illness or infection became a full-blown problem and you knew that you needed care NOW.

Recently, that happened to me. I had some minor symptoms including exhaustion and nausea. It went on for days, some days worse than others. Then, on a Saturday night, I KNEW that an infection was raging, yet hiding, in my body. It was time to go to Immediate Care and be seen, medication prescribed and I would be on the road to better health!

Isn’t that the way it is with life? Something which seems so small and insignificant at first can lead to horrible results. Maybe you harbor anger which grows into bitterness against someone. Before you know it, full-on hate develops and something radical would need to be done. In extreme instances that hate can actually lead to murder. That is what sin does in us.

James 1:14–16 states: each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

Sin can appear as something minor like a minor ‘illness’. Yet before you knew it, that sin had grown until it was poisoning one’s entire being. Only radical ‘surgery’ could take care of it!

There is a remedy for that ‘illness’ -

How joyful is he one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered! Psalm 32:1

Only God can forgive sin since it is against Him that we commit sin. That is why He sent Jesus — so that WE wouldn’t die because of our ‘illness’ but Jesus died in our place so that we could be healthy and at peace with God!
