Common Sense: Webster's dictionary definition, Sound and prudent judgment based on perceptions of situations or facts.

Perhaps because I am angry, annoyed, and bewildered, I decided to hold a memorial service for my dear friend, Common Sense. Please join me. I understand I am neither the first nor the last to say farewell to her. I write this eulogy for all who knew and admired Common Sense.

Today I mark the passing of someone I have admired for many years. She was always available. She had an honest soul and a practical heart. I could not find any birth records but I remember my Grandmother saying, “Everyone needs to listen to her more often” I guess Common Sense was very old.

Common Sense was a fine teacher, for those willing to listen. Here are just a few of her favorite topics.

  1. Life is not fair
  2. Come in out of the rain
  3. If it sounds too good to be true, don’t trust it
  4. Admit when you are wrong, say I am wrong, and mean it.
  5. My favorite, If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is a duck.

Common Sense loved teaching children. She hoped that the lessons she taught would last a lifetime, they were: Listen to your parents. Go to…
