WHEN DID COMMON SENSE DIE?
Did we ever know her?
Common Sense: Webster's dictionary definition, Sound and prudent judgment based on perceptions of situations or facts.
Perhaps because I am angry, annoyed, and bewildered, I decided to hold a memorial service for my dear friend, Common Sense. Please join me. I understand I am neither the first nor the last to say farewell to her. I write this eulogy for all who knew and admired Common Sense.
Today I mark the passing of someone I have admired for many years. She was always available. She had an honest soul and a practical heart. I could not find any birth records but I remember my Grandmother saying, “Everyone needs to listen to her more often” I guess Common Sense was very old.
Common Sense was a fine teacher, for those willing to listen. Here are just a few of her favorite topics.
- Life is not fair
- Come in out of the rain
- If it sounds too good to be true, don’t trust it
- Admit when you are wrong, say I am wrong, and mean it.
- My favorite, If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is a duck.
