Forever Young

A Poem

We had you for a time, God leant you to us, to be together as a family and to cherish your gifts.

But now, in the skies, you walk hand in hand with Him, and we are glad for the peace you know, however much our hearts feel the rift.

Your frailties are gone. Your body holds you in torment no more. You are young in your body as well as your soul, although down on earth, you’ll forever be missed.

So as we shed tears on your passing we hear you whisper to us, I’m happy and free now, there’s no need for grief.

With sadness, we honour the seat you once sat, the laughter you shared with us and the gifts your hands carved. And we let go with love and hold on to the memories, we have such a list!

The roses bloom and the trees blossom above as below we let go with one final kiss.

So, fly with the angels, smile with the saints, and one day we’ll be united. Until then, we whisper to the heavens our love evermore.

With tribute to my late dad, who passed away this week.
