Here’s The Goods on Good News
It comes in all shapes and sizes
Today I received good news. Really, really good news. The kind of news I had been anxious about for close to a week. While I waited, I consciously predicted a couple of pathways: one had a positive outcome and how it would affect me in the immediate future, and the other had a negative outcome and its ramifications.
The news was to come electronically, so I also checked my email every five minutes. I tried to practice patience as much as I could.
Similar to the eureka effect, when someone suddenly understands a studied concept or problem, getting the good news gave me optimism, hope, and validation.
The actual news in and of itself was, well, good. I could share it but what’s key is the effect that the news had on my body and mind. It took me to an almost out-of-body experience of light-headedness and elation. I was awash in happiness.
Think George Bailey happiness, the character in “It’s A Wonderful Life” when he’s kissing everyone in sight after he comes to the realization about the worth of his own life.
How did I celebrate my good news? I jumped up and down like a kid, I cried happy tears, I told my husband, I walked with a spring in my step…
