Up until recently, I’ve always started my day practically the same way.

Coffee, catching up with what’s new, some more coffee.

You know the drill — morning routines usually consist of keeping your mind on the right track. There are plenty of pieces of advice out there, offering guidelines as to how to write in a journal, how to schedule your appointments, how to prioritize your daily tasks.

By all means, all this is essential

It’s true that we are way more productive and willing to work hard if we follow some kind of a plan in our heads — what has to be done today, what is of the highest priority, what do I need to buy from the grocery store to cook that wonderful meal I took a glimpse of in my favorite cooking show.

Setting up your mind in work-mode is crucial for you to have a successful day, there is no doubt in that.

But often we get so overwhelmed with the constant pursuit of achievements and meeting deadlines that we forget what also is an essential part of our day to be successful.

And that is, in a nutshell, to keep it fun

A few days ago a friend of mine and I had this conversation about morning routines. We realized that we do pretty much the same every morning — not that it’s bad in any way. It has just become too ordinary.

‘Don’t get me wrong — I absolutely enjoy my cup of coffee surrounded by newspapers, newsletters, and my inbox but, at some point, I began feeling I was starting work by the minute I gоt out of bed.” — she claimed.

When you come to think about it, don’t we all start working immediately after waking up?

We open our eyes and check with our mobile. We check our mail. We check if we have additional assignments sent.

We keep doing so even after working hours.

This approach is lovely when it comes to achieving your professional goals. But what about the fun? Why don’t we spare a minute in our morning routine to just simply have a laugh?

Starting your day with keeping track is good for your mind. Starting your day with laughter is good for your soul.

I myself have implemented this approach just recently and have observed something quite delightful.

Combined with productivity, my overall good mood because of engaging myself with funny experience has boosted my willingness to get started with my day.

So now, instead of only browsing emails and newsletters, I also spare a moment to read humorous articles, watch funny videos or simply have a witty conversation over the phone.

It works like a charm.

Being in a good mood rises your productivity and triggers you to do better

Tomorrow, when you wake up, give yourself a chance to lift your spirit up.

Avoid falling into the loop of constant grinding. Sometimes all we need is a good laugh and the reminder that burning out is one of the worst things that may happen to your mental health. Preserve your state of mind with some giggles now and then.

After all, the funny side of life is so much more worthy to immerse yourself into.
