SpongeBob Episodes That Hit Different as an Adult
Life lessons from one of our most important childhood shows!
For anybody who grew up in the early 2000s, SpongeBob SquarePants was the ultimate afternoon viewing ritual. The show is so famous that it really doesn’t need any introduction. Everyone’s familiar with the hilarious sea creatures of fictional Bikini Bottom and their silly hijinks.
What I want to talk about is the way the viewing experience of the show has changed for those of us who grew up on its iconic episodes. Kids and adults view the world through a very different prism and set of experiences, and now that SpongeBob fans are in their 20’s and 30’s the plots of the episodes become much more interesting to dissect than when we were in our pre-adolescence.
Characters like Squidward, Mr. Krabs, and Sandy start to take on greater meaning than just being the sideshows to SpongeBob and Patrick. The different personalities fit together to tell a more meaningful story than before, and here I will talk about several episodes that have really hit home since coming of age!
