Einstein and Oppenheimer were famously regretful about the invention of the nuclear bomb. However, now the inventors of smart phones should be equally if not more guilty! Imagine a nuclear bomb that we all carry with us everyday and worse, we give it to our kids!

I remember one time my wife and I were out to dinner at Cheesecake Factory with amazing ambiance and great food. We were having a great dinner when we noticed a strange image at the table in front of our booth.

Look up at the picture and you see a man and a woman on their phones at a restaurant. Now, unfortunately that has become the norm. Even today I just came back from sushi with the wifey and there was a woman with her husband and she was reading an article with our commander in shit’s face at the top of a New York Times article. Back to Cheesecake Factory!

So this couple is sitting in front of us and not only were they on their phones but they both had GIGANTIC Beats headphones on!

And yes those are beets on the left! Why? Cause I’m fucking cheesy and I love borscht, the awesome Russian soup. Ok focus people, back to the Beats headphones.

The couple that was eating in front of us were not only on their cellphones but also had Beats headphones on! WTF man!?

Why the hell would you go to a restaurant to eat together meanwhile listening the whole time to music and not talking?

Now I don’t want to sound like an old grumpy man and say “kids these days” blah de blah blah. It is a double edged sword. However, it seems like the negative side of the sword is a little bit sharper…

Millennials are notoriously horrible at communication. In medical schools all over the nation they have implemented classes on improving communication. Now lets wonder why that is… Is it maybe because the kids that are in college now were raised by video games and iPads? Or is it because they were raised by parents that were too busy on their video games and iPads? I’d say both didn’t help…

Notice double edged sword on the above. :) So my fair warning to everyone is be careful to not get cut by the negative side of the sword that is smartphone.

Use it to enhance your relationships, decrease stress but never let it hinder your relationships in the moment especially when you are out to dinner with a special someone!
