About five years ago, I quit what some people may consider a “dream job” to join a big corporate in Manhattan. To my surprise, I still work for the same company today and I am still happy.

Is there such a thing as a dream job?

People used to pay me to travel. Dream job, right? I was a freelancer and maintained a travel blog. My sponsors and foreign tourism boards paid me to travel in return for my reviews and attending tourism events.

Life was good. I traveled to many countries, met wonderful people, and experienced amazing things.

My passion for writing somehow found my regular columns in magazines too. I suppose I was an old-day digital nomad.

What happened?

Nothing to be honest. I was happy and carefree. Unlike some of my fellow freelancers, I was not concerned with my saving for retirement nor looking for stability. I was not going to settle with my girlfriend either.

But after experiencing so much as a nomad, I wanted to experience a 9–5 life. It may seem odd as some readers are probably dreaming of quitting a stable job…
