We are happy to give the community a run-down of activities that ensued in July within the Beam African community. Like previous months, July was no different as the Beam Africa team had an array of activities successfully executed during the ensuing weeks. We had AMAs, telegram voice hangouts, in-house competitions, and a football bant and rants night. We’ll go through all of them in this update.

Also, we’ll highlight some milestones achieved by the broader Beam global project. Most recently was the Beam staking DApp “DAO Core” going live on Testnet.

TL;DR: A quick recap of the major events in July:

Football bant and rants night

The month of July opened with a lot of bants surrounding the last football season. The Beam Africa team decided to give her community an opportunity to air their views on the result and all that transpired ranging from the Euro 2020, Premier League matches, Transfer news and individual player updates.

The hangout took off at exactly 7 PM (WAT) and continued into the night until the members were fully satisfied…some not so satisfied. You wouldn’t blame them… This is football. It’s either your club or nothing! 😂

Beam x Mantra Dao AMA (text)

On July 23, 2021, we were highly excited to have an Ask-Me-Anything session with the African Community Lead of Mantra Dao: Olapade Samuel (Engr. Samest), to discuss his take on Defi and its impact on the African continent.

Mantra Dao is a community-governed DeFi platform focusing on Staking, Lending, and Governance. Built on Parity Substrate for the Polkadot ecosystem, MANTRA DAO gives financial control back to the people to store and grow wealth together.

This AMA was divided into two parts, where Engr. Samest was asked to share his opinion on DeFi in Africa, followed by a heated live Q&A from our community.

Beam x Binance AMA with Obinna and George MwaKish (Telegram voice)

Following the success of the AMA with the Mantra Dao community, Beam Africa held yet another AMA hosted by our very own Business Development/Ambassador. George MwaKish; the Business Development Manager for Binance Kenya.

This AMA was held on the community voice chat. If you missed it, do not worry. We got you covered. Listen here.

Most active member competition

Every day, the Beam Africa community come together to have a little fun activity on Telegram. This time, we have introduced a reward system to encourage members of our community who have been the most active every week. This weeks winner was @Inemsvision2020 who was rewarded with some RAYS tokens.
