Today, let’s meet Alexis Papageorgiou, our BEAMer in Hamburg, Germany. Shall we?
Who Are You Alexis?
If there is one common factor that sums up all the things I have done: It’s that I want to leave a place having it made a little bit better. I started working in media at an early age because I realized I could make people happy. Viewers of my work laughed about my videos. The realization that you could positively influence other people was a starting point in my career and I was searching for more ways to have an impact. After providing education and information for many years I naturally landed in tech. Technology has the means to go beyond borders and affect the lives of a large sums of people. Now I do everything in my power to help people launch their products and make a “small dent in the world”.

Why BEAM?
The 20th century exposed the world to terrible authoritarian and tyrannical institutions. In today’s age of massive data collection it is absolutely crucial to have privacy and anonymity. BEAM offers the best solution for a private cryptocurrency based on Mimblewimble and can be very beneficial for a large number of people. But more than everything else, BEAM’s approach is not only, let’s say, a “business” approach. Behind BEAM, there’s a bunch of people fighting to defend this basic right which is the right of privacy.
So BEAM, yes! Because, this is a new privacy coin and because this is much more than that!
What do you enjoy working on?
I love telling stories. Marketing, Sales, Visual Identity. Those are all parts of story that a company tells to talk about their product. I enjoy finding ways how to communicate a narrative towards a group of people. For me, narrative is a total part of a pedagogic approach of life. I mean, education is a concept that most of our developed countries do not pay attention to. Do you know how much does earn a teacher nowadays? Almost enough to stay hungry. This is a real shame. But, you can educate and thus help your fellow human beings by telling them stories and let them realize stuff via these stories. This is my mojo.
That’s why I love organising conferences and meetups, creating visual content (photo and video) and developing media and marketing strategies. This is the way I try on a daily basis to help my fellows.
What do you want to see in a privacy-oriented digital world?
“I want fair treatment of individuals. “
I want humans to be comfortable trading and collaborating with each other across borders without complications. But more than everything else, I want a world where when you speak about privacy, you are not seen as a criminal, a world where my digital identity is not tradable by big corporation and a world where justice reigns.
Utopian? Yes sir! But let me remind you of the the main slogan of the French student revolution in 1968: “Be realistic, demand the impossible!”
Why should someone become a BEAM Ambassador?
Privacy and anonymity are a part of an important cause for a free world. BEAM is the most advanced cryptocurrency based on Mimblewimble that offers this by default. If this cause is noble to you, becoming an ambassador would allow you to make a positive impact in this direction, it will allow you to design the world you want to live in and the world you would like to leave to your children. For me, being a BEAM Ambassador means all of this.
