“TOUCH-U”

Hailing from North Quisenberry in the borough of Ridgewood, the undercover ‘beat-vibe-band’ TOUCH-U emerged.

TOUCH-U is comprised of Thomas Benhoff, Ted Shumeorester, Dan Nemer, Shadwell Lossick and Benita Reynolds. Terry Lacefield was the business manager. Tom plays Bass, Ted on Lead Guitar, Dan, Drummer, Shadwell, Keyboards, Benita, Female Vocals. They all sing. They play a new music called Beat-Vibe. They are an undercover beat-vibe band.

TOUCH-U likes to get off the stage and play in the audience. They dance and sing, kneel and wail, jump up and down and sway back and forth. They groove to the music with the fans. They create a beat and they create a vibe. The TOUCH-U you in special ways, deep undercover, deep beats, deep vibes.

It’s a new kind of music you feel as much as you hear. BEAT-VIBE.

Tom Benhoff formed the band, TOUCH-U, when he dropped out of school at fourteen. He couldn’t even do simple math, but he could beat the hell out of that bass guitar. His brother had passed the hand-me-down P-Bass to him and his elder cousin had given it to him, originating in 1971 when purchased by Luther Tucker for the South Side Gospel and Southern Tabernacle Convention of 1972. Luther was the baddest gospel bass player this side of Tuscaloosa. Tom did it justice with his own style of thumping, slapping, stretching and beating with a percussive drive that permeated and solidified as a new music form, a new genre, if you will. Beat-Vibe.

Beat-Vibe soon caught on and members were selected for their contribution to the craft. Beat-Vibe was alive and well. It still is and it’s flourishing.

Certain places are known as home to Beat-Vibe. Coldwater, Mississippi is Beat-Vibe Central. Downtown next to the restaurant on the corner with the parking lot. In that parking lot is where it all started. Let’s say, you’ve never been to Coldwater, Mississippi, here is a little background in pictures.

If you haven’t picked up on the beat vibe by the second pic, you are not going to.

BVFC(bvfc) was the very first Beat-Vibe Band that originated out of Coldwater. They disbanded after a terrible gardening accident. They were working day jobs as landscapers and by night as a Beat-Vibe Band. Only the party people in town, the colorful people, the misfits, outcasts, black sheep of the family and the underworld, undercover types were attracted to Beat-Vibe Music at first. Now it has become mainstream beat-vibe, popular all over the world, particularly in the Philippines in Southeast Asia. You can go to any club there and they know Beat-Vibe well. They still play bvfc but TOUCH-U is everyone’s favorite new BEAT-VIBE band.
