There are days where nothing happens and then there are days that are just absolutely delightful. The sun is shining, faith, hope and love are everywhere. Today was definitely one of those days…

My mailbox was full and one letter caught my attention:

It was a letter from the DMV to renew the registration of a vehicle.

I opened the envelope and it literally had another envelope inside plus the bill showing how much is owed.

The irony or the beauty of the situation lies in the fact that on the paper, were written instructions on how to make the payment…online…

For a moment I thought to myself: “sending a paper bill to say that you can pay online what a waste! These people could not have send me an email with a link to pay online like everyone does?”

The truth is: the DMV could email us links to pay online.

The DMV has our email addresses they could just send us an email with an impersonal “Click here to pay” link.

Have you considred how many people would be left out of the system if that bill did not come to their physical mailbox with an envelope in the envelope?

The DMV thinks about our parents and the generations before them. People who won’t go to pay online for lack of training or simply lack of access.

Even though millennials rarely admit it: we are the minority!

What if by including online payment on the paper bill, the DMV was just making sure that you feel included?

An organization that takes care of the majority while making sure to include the minority is a beautiful thing because the future can only exist if it includes all of us. High five DMV!
