“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” — Isaiah 53:6

According to the Bible, the first humans Adam & Eve were created perfect by God in a garden of bliss and beauty [Eden].

Perfect people, in a perfect environment still failed to remain perfect. Satan the snake in Genesis chapter 3 deceived the first humans into distrusting God and brought disunity between mankind and its Creator.

Adam and Eve were made in the image of God, after the fall Adam and Eve’s descendants were made in the image of Adam and Eve. Broken people giving birth to broken people. A race to the bottom, humanity going nowhere fast.

See, from just after our fall , humanity was promised a Savior:

“And I [ Creator God] will put enmity between you [Satan] and the woman [Eve] , and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

Genesis 3:15

In other words someone from the offspring of humanity will come and crush the works of Satan on mankind. Here lies the meaning of Christmas for Bible believing Christians.

The promise from our Creator that through Eve, through us humanity will come a Savior that will destroy the works of Satan.

“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder. And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” — Isaiah 9:6

Isaiah 9:6

So it is not really about lights and gifts although there are some very profound symbolism in that. For Christians, Christmas is the celebration that the Great God who created us, life and the Universe held His promise and sent a Savior for us.

Merry Christmas everyone!

For unto us a Child is born, unto us Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder.
