This developer blog is the home to all of the most up to date information about all things Beatsource. From new content that we will be publishing, to the status of forthcoming products that we are developing, and when you can expect to to see those products.
What is Beatsource?
Beatsource, a joint venture between Beatport and DJcity, is the new premier digital music platform for open-format DJs. Starting with an all-new highly curated download store created specifically to meet the demands of today’s multi-genre performing DJ. Unlike other digital music stores, Beatsource focuses primarily on ready-to-go playlists designed for any occasion across Hip Hop, R&B, Latin, Dance, Pop, and Reggae/Dancehall.
The store is the first of three products to be launched by Beatsource. Following the Beatsource download store, Beatsource will launch its own “LINK” service that will allow subscribers to access the Beatsource store from leading DJ software and hardware platforms, as well as Beatsource PROMO, an exclusive subscription tier that provides promotional and traditional “record pool” content.
Why is Beatsource launching in “beta” and what does that mean?
Beatsource being in “beta” means that we are still in the process of testing the product and that you may experience some bugs or other small stability issues. Beatsource is opting for a public beta launch to give our customers the opportunity to give direct feedback so that we can fine-tune the store. This will result in a much-improved product over the course of the beta period.
We realize a beta period is non-traditional for this type of product but we want to hear from you.

Why is some music missing from the Beatsource catalog?
We are processing music libraries that contain thousands upon thousands of tracks every day from your favorite labels, both the majors and the coolest indies. If you do not see something that you are looking for, we can assure you that it will be there in the coming days or weeks as we continue to publish new content hourly.

How is the Beatsource store being curated?
Our ever-expanding catalog is organized by a team of the best DJs from the open-format DJ community and it is what sets Beatsource apart from existing download stores like iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon that were not built to serve the needs of the professional DJ. Our curated playlists will continue to evolve everyday as music trends come and go.
Where is the DJcity record pool content?
The Beatsource platform will be released in three phases. Each phase will introduce new features and functionality to our community. DJcity’s record pool and promotional content (i.e. pre-releases, remixes, acapellas, and other DJ edits) will be released during phase three of our product roadmap.

When will DJ streaming integrations be available?
Beatsource LINK, our software for DJ streaming, will be launched within the next few months along with our confirmed partners Pioneer DJ, Denon DJ, and Virtual DJ, along with more of your favorite software and hardware partners to be announced soon.
