A few days ago, Chief Product Officer of BEAT, Daniel Wischer and Sales Director, Jonas Bading visited the government of the German-speaking community in Belgium.

This was made possible by Nico Wolff, the owner of Medifit Gym and avid BEAT enthusiast. Nico Wolff is a true first adopter of the BEAT ecosystem. He has not only invested in BEAT but also uses Magicline Software in his gym.

The meeting was centered around sharing the BEAT story as well as discussing how existing considerations of Belgian politicians may align with BEAT’s plans in the future. The possibilities for collaboration are very exciting.

The Government of the German-speaking Community is based in a historic building in Eupen, from where it designs and coordinates political work, manages foreign relations within its areas of responsibility and organizes the administration.

The BEAT team spoke directly with Antonios Antoniadis, Belgian politician of the Socialist Party and Stephan Förster from the Self-Determined Life Service of the German-speaking Community of Belgium. Antoniadis has been the Minister of the Government of the German-speaking Community since 30 June 2014. His responsibilities include family, health and social affairs. He was accompanied by Stephan Förster from the Self-Determined Life Service of the German-speaking Community of Belgium.

After presenting the vision of BEAT, the current status of the BEAT ecosystem and a look into the future, it quickly became clear that there was a lot of common ground. BEAT aims to not only promote sports but to create a network to connect data silos.

Antoniadis and Förster have been working on solving some of these problems that BEAT has foreseen in East Belgium. The politicians presented that they have already built up an existing network with partners in the health sector in order to implement their ideas in initial pilot projects with further financial support. Unfortunately, the first attempt in Belgium failed initially due to lack of approval from the Belgian cabinet, which refused financing at the present time.

In order to be able to go further into details and to examine which form of cooperation would be useful for a possibly first pilot, both parties agreed to meet again between October and November of this year. The second meeting will use the information acquired from this initial meeting to put together a more indepth workshop.

We are eager to see what opportunities will arise for BEAT from this cooperation.
