Since the first version of BeatTune we have worked to provide our users with an app that can help them understand its heart rate readings and keep control their health based in the heart rate sensor in the Apple Watch.

With the first version we have provided exactly that, an app that based in the physical activity you’re currently doing and based in the heart rate sensor in your Apple Watch can show you how well are you doing and notify you about any irregularity found in your heart rate readings.

This feature was great because you can tap anywhere on the screen to switch between physical activities and see if your actual heart rate readings are on target or not. But it had a major drawback 😰. To monitor your heart rate measurements you always had to open the app on your Apple Watch and put the physical activity you considered correct manually.

Notifications about irregularities detected

Now three months later, we are happy to announce that you don’t need to open anymore the app in your Apple Watch to monitor your heart rate. We have introduced a new feature that every time an irregularity is detected in your heart rate notify you in your iPhone even when the app in your Apple Watch or your iPhone is not open.

But wait!!! 🖐 If the irregularities are detected based in the physical activity chosen when you open the app in your Apple Watch or your iPhone how can we notify you about irregularities in your heart rate readings without knowing your current physical activity?

Automatic detection of your current physical activity

Another major feature we have introduced in this version is the detection of your current physical activity automatically for you based in your step count measurements from the Health app.

Every time a heart rate measure comes from your Apple Watch we calculate based in your step count measures where are you according to the three main physical activities: Resting, Moderate, Intense and in case of being out of the optimal zone we notify you about the irregularity detected. In this way the notifications about irregularities in your heart rate as accurate as possible.

Note: The steps counts is a measure we have used for automatically detect your current physical activity, nevertheless we would add more metrics to detect it in future releases.

Relevant readings on your iPhone

Every time a notification comes about an irregularity detected is sent to a new panel of relevant heart rate readings in your iPhone to you can see all the irregularities detected today and in your previous days .

You can group by lows or highs if you want. Another really interesting feature about it is that when you install the app we make an analysis of the last 15 days of your heart rate readings stored in your Health app, so can we show you how was do you doing before you install the app.

Note: Due to your iPhone’s Health Store being encrypted, notifications can only be delivered when your iPhone is unlocked. This will happen in the background whenever you are using your iPhone in an unlocked state for any purpose, so in practice, you will be alerted as long as you regularly use your iPhone.

We hope with the new features introduced in this version can help much more people to keep control their heart rate and control their health more properly.
