Not all individuals with a drinking problem drink whiskey for breakfast. The fact is many people who choose to stop drinking barely fulfill the criteria for alcohol use disorder (AUD).

I have a good friend who has for years told me she thinks she has a drinking problem. I've always thought in the back of my mind, seriously you’re fine, you barely drink.

A person with a drinking problem should be paralytic regularly, right?

Wrong.

I’ve since learned that this stereotypical problem drinker comprises only a fraction of the people who actually have a problem with alcohol.

Here are 5 flashing neon signs that you have an unhealthy relationship with alcohol:

#1 You’re thinking about alcohol more than you should

The thought of that 7 pm glass of wine is preoccupying your thoughts. It’s the first thing you do when you get home and it’s your signal to relax. Even if it’s only one drink you want, this can still be a sign of a problem.
