Wait, it looks like a sunset

You’ll probably be surprised to know that just 15 minutes away from Cluj there is an unbelievable city escape spot which features a peaceful horizon viewpoint. It also works for your daily sunset routine or meditation if you feel like you need one.

To get there take the exit on the roundabout from Calea Turzii following signs towards Ciurila or Sălicea. The whole road 107R is worth driving, as it slowly going through small villages towards the highway A3.

While we usually refer to car distance, this spot is perfectly bike-able as well.

Perhaps it is 7 minutes more

Checking out the sunset time before heading to the spot is probably a good idea.

The tiny blue puddle on the map is surprisingly photogenic in real life and you don’t have to be an expert in beautiful things (like we are) to admit that.

No way, is that somewhere in Romania?

When we feel like it is not enough, we bring friends and a kite.

When in June, make sure to go a little bit further the main road, cross the A3 highway (apparently there is no way you can exit to the highway, instead you just get under the bridge), take right and follow alongside few small lakes. Believe it or not, but eventually you’ll bump into poppy fields.

A series of lakes along the highway ends up with the poppy fields (in June)

As of everything said above, we put Ciurila to the top of the list of 1-hour city escape destinations for sunset experience.
