A big part of the Transylvanian charm lays inside those tiny authentic villages hidden among the endless hills. Depending on the direction you decide to take for finding one of those small lovely villages, you can get to either old traditional Hungarian, Romanian or German settlement. We went North-East that time and visited Sic — Hungarian village which is also known as Szék.

It’s located 60 km away from Cluj and the road is rather pleasant, it goes through villages and green hills where you can observe flocks of sheep having their daily portion of fresh Carpathian herbs.

For those interested in history — Sic has a website, with some historical information is shared. Does your home city have one? :)

When grannies and technology meet

However, let’s skip the facts and just showcase the beauty.

Once you arrive, you can leave your car right in the central parking near the bus stop and walk around a little bit. Before you start, consider having your sandwich on the bench up near the Calvinist Church, you gonna catch a pretty nice view there.

Afterwards, just have a peaceful walk along the village streets observing locals in their everyday routines and spot some traditional elements on every house.

Go up the cemetery hill, you’ll see the panorama of the village from the other side.

If you are lucky enough, you’ll get some snuggles from the shepherd’s doggo as well.

See you next time (we’ll grow big and you’ll not recognize us)

To complete the round trip take road back to Cluj via Gherla or get completely crazy and off-road.
