nutrition experts advise taking vitamin b9. Folate deficiency can cause anemia, accelerates the progression of colorectal cancer. Excessive dose of folic acid accelerates growth of breast and prostate cancer cells, increases carcinogenesis. cancer cells have a 1000 times more folic acid receptors. The tumor accelerates the metabolism of B9. Some foods are folic acid enriched. . You can consume enough natural vitamin b9 with foods without supplementation. study

Probably all of us at least once in our lives have bought vitamin supplements online without a doctor’s prescription. Have you ever had one? I confess! I’ve done it too! It was vitamin b12 in high doses. But the more I’ve delved into taking synthetic vitamins without a doctor’s prescription, the more I’ve become convinced that it’s dangerous. No! Sometimes it’s even deadly! In this article, I will discuss new and old discoveries about taking folic acid supplements. The story is much more complicated than it may seem at first glance. Therefore, please read the article to the end and very carefully, and share it on your social networks. Thank you. LET’S GET STARTED!🙂

American scientists from the University of Alabama have found that the consumption of folic acid (vitamin B9) without medical indications can lead to the rapid growth of cancer cells in some people.

The results of this study also showed that taking high doses of folate can reduce the activity of protective immune cells. In addition, taking folic acid along with certain prescription medications can also be harmful.

At the same time, according to scientists, “getting enough of this vitamin can reduce the chances of getting certain types of cancer” because it plays an important role in cell repair.

According to doctors, some studies show that folic acid blocks cancer in the early stages. This is especially true for colorectal cancer. At the same time, taking these vitamins in amounts significantly higher than the daily dose can accelerate the growth of some other types of cancer cells.

Therefore, both a deficiency and an excess of this vitamin carry serious health risks.

Many countries, including the USA, Canada, UK, and France (more than 80 countries in total), fortify refined grain products such as white flour, bread and cereals with folic acid. All grains in the United States must contain 25 micrograms of folic acid per serving. But some manufacturers add up to 400 micrograms per serving(! 😳),which can easily lead to exceeding the healthy limit. Because of this, many people in the United States and many other countries do not know what their blood folate levels are. This is very dangerous, especially for people aged 40 years and older, when the risk of cancer increases dramatically!

Some other foods, including plant-based, may also contain a certain amount of vitamins.

This is only a small fraction of the foods that contain folic acid. But don’t forget that pregnant and nursing women need higher doses of B9 (600 mcg and 500 mcg respectively).

As one of the two studies in this report showed, the group that took supplemental vitamins accounted for 4 percent of cancer deaths. In the group that did not take folic acid, 2.9 percent of patients died of cancer. At first glance, the difference doesn’t seem very big?

But let’s look at the annual death rate for prostate cancer in the United States for the year 2021. According to seer.cancer.gov , 34,130 people died of prostate cancer last year in the U.S. 4 percent of that number equals 1,365 people 2.9 percent equals 989 people.

Based on this data, 376 more people may have died in the group taking a double daily dose of vitamin B9 per day than patients in the control group. Prostate cancer accounts for only 5.6 percent of all cancer deaths in the United States. Of course, there are other risk factors for each type of cancer. But by reducing each of these risks, we not only reduce the risk of a tumor, but even if it does occur, we can prolong our lives. As mentioned above, vitamin deficiencies also increase the likelihood of developing some forms of cancer.

So we should avoid these two extremes - excess and deficiency of vitamin B9 in the body

This is not the first study to warn of the high potential risk of consuming this vitamin at high doses. These studies show that vitamin B9 deficiency significantly increases the risk of colon polyps and colon cancer by 40 and 60 percent, respectively. At the same time, exceeding the daily dose of vitamin b9 (400 mcg) by 2.5 times (1000 mcg) more than doubled the number of precancerous polyps in several years!

Vitamin B9 deficiency also has many health risks!

Too low levels of vitamin b9 in the blood can lead to anemia. In countries where people eat a lot of unhealthy refined foods (if it’s not enriched with vitamin b9 like pasta, buns, cakes, white flour bread, white bread) and little healthy foods, some people may be anemic. B9 deficiency anemia is not a problem for those who live in countries where the government requires producers to fortify refined foods with this vitamin. Check if your country is on the list (info for 2017!)

Folate deficiency is especially critical for rapidly dividing cells: blood cells and mucosal epithelium. B9 deficiency causes anemia, decreases the number of white blood cells, increases the risk of gastrointestinal disorders, gastritis, enteritis, and slows down wound healing. Homocysteine concentrations also increase, which increases the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Certain factors negatively affect the absorption of vitamin b9: alcohol consumption, acidic foods, drugs (phenytoin, barbiturates), and absorption disorders (malabsorption syndrome). Deficiency of the active form of folate in the body may be associated with genetic defects of folate cycle enzymes. Note the impaired absorption of vitamin b9 when drinking alcohol!

This is very important because if you drink alcoholic beverages often, then you may experience a vitamin b9 deficiency, which in turn increases the risk of precancerous and cancerous cells!

Vitamin B9 or folic acid is involved in DNA synthesis and methylation processes and thus can reduce the risk of cancer when it is taken in doses no higher than the physiological requirement.

But! Sometimes things don’t go as planned!

If genetic breakdowns do occur during cell division and this results in the growth of precancerous or cancerous cells, then the excess folic acid starts working in the opposite direction, that is, feeding the cancer cells and accelerating their growth and division.
This is because on the surface of cancer cells there are 1000 times more receptors of folic acid than on healthy cells! You may not even know that you have small pre-cancerous polyps or malignant formation and to accelerate the growth rate of the tumor many times over by taking folic without checking with your doctor!

What can be done to reduce the risks of folic acid overconsumption?

  1. Don’t take multivitamins containing vitamin b9 (folic acid) without a doctor’s prescription.

2. Check the amount of vitamin B9 in foods on the package or on the manufacturer’s website.

3. avoid cereals and other foods that contain 100% of the daily dose of folic acid.

4. If you have a family history of cancer, be sure to consult your doctor about taking folic acid. Since it can accelerate the growth of some types of cancer.

5. If your financial situation allows, replace refined grains and cereal products with certified organic ones that are not fortified with synthetic vitamins. Organic whole wheat flour, cereals, bread, in addition to natural vitamins contain enough fiber, insufficient intake of which is also one of the cancer factors!

6. Try carefully calculating how much vitamin b9 you consume from all sources

7. Avoid vitamin 9 supplements in high doses!

So, to stay healthy, you need to avoid vitamin deficiencies and try not to exceed the daily norm. Self-treatment even with vitamins can accelerate the growth of certain types of tumors. Especially in people who don’t even know they have cancer cells in the early stages.
