How to Blast by Bebop

There’s been a lot of hype around the launch of Blast. Spearheaded by the team behind Blur, a prominent NFT marketplace, Blast promises to revolutionize the Ethereum Layer-2 landscape. While scalability remains a key focus for most L2 solutions, Blast sets itself apart by offering native yield generation on assets like Ethereum and stablecoins.

Blast Mainnet is launching at 9pm UTC on Feb 29th.

We’ve been working non stop to bring Bebop on Blast to you Day 1.

How can you get ready? 👇

Starting on a new chain requires some prep, but fear not — we’re here to share some tips for kickstarting your journey on Blast!

Be Careful and Stay Safe

First and foremost, be safe. Many great teams are building on Blast. But like any big launch, the ecosystem will attract malicious actors. Be vigilant, don’t ignore warnings.

DYOR on the new apps and coins. And of course use the apps you know and trust, like Bebop. Take time to verify information and conduct due diligence. Protect your assets. 🫶

Why to Blast

Before we dive into the HOW to get onto Blast mainnet, we wanted to briefly cover the WHY you may want Blast to be the next ecosystem you explore.

In essence, here are some of the advantages offered by Blast:

  • Blast introduces native yield for assets like ETH and stablecoins, allowing automatic yield generation upon asset transfer to the platform.
  • Utilizes ETH staking and on-chain Treasury Bill (T-Bill) protocols to generate yield for users, enhancing asset value over time.
  • The $BLAST token airdrop incentivizes user engagement and fuels platform expansion, with accrued points convertible to $BLAST tokens come May 2024.

Alright, let’s get into it! 🔥

Bridging to Blast

Bridging is the first step to start your journey on Blast.

It’s important to note that while bridges facilitate interoperability between blockchains, we cannot guarantee the security of any specific bridge. However, the best place to start is by using a bridge recommended on the Blast website. For your convenience, we will provide those recommendations here.

Blast Bridge

https://blast.io/en/bridge

We’ll update this piece shortly with bridges as they are announced on mainnet. Based on what we know from Blast testnet, we can tell you the following regarding how and what to bridge.

Duration

Transferring Ethereum to Blast’s testnet usually completes within a few minutes. However, if you’re transferring from Blast’s testnet back to Ethereum, it may take around 14 days. This extended duration serves as a security measure. We anticipate that similar timing will apply to Blast mainnet but will update this as we learn.

What to transfer?

ETH to ETH

The simplest path is to transfer ETH from Ethereum mainnet to ETH on Blast mainnet. Once briding tools are available via a UI, we will include links to them in this post. Until then, you will likely be able to transfer your ETH via an address as it was done on the testnet. This is a straightforward transaction without any additional data, just sending your ETH from Ethereum mainnet to the provided address: 0x697402166Fbf2F22E970df8a6486Ef171dbfc524.

Please note, if you’re dealing with wrapped ETH (WETH), it needs to be unwrapped before depositing and rewrapped on the L2.

USD (DAI, USDC, USDT)

Regarding stablecoins like DAI, USDC, and USDT, it’s crucial NOT to bridge them to the USDB address through the bridge address will be provided for ETH bridging. Once we are more aware of a safe way for you to transfer your stables, we will update this section of the piece.

Connecting to Blast

Wallet Support

We have asked a number of wallet providers about their plans for supporting Blast. BitGet and OKX Wallet have confirmed their full support from Day 1. As of this week, Bebop supports seamless connection to these wallets for your convenience.

However, do not be alarmed if your favorite wallet provider has not announced explicit support for Blast Day 1. Most EVM compatible wallets will automatically pick up the chain information from the apps that you are using in order for you to easily add the new network. We tested this internally on Metamask and Zerion. 👌
