Open letter to Facebook
In an era of social networking, fans, friends and family are all we have got, and those connections are so much appreciated by us artists, that we kind of forget, what the terms of each single social web application like Facebook, twitter and others are.
It’s exactly to this that I must speak out my total disagreement with my last block on Facebook, related to some live videos of the erotic festival of Oporto (the biggest in Portugal). I have been doing a few live videos while two men were on the stage dancing on a pole, and without showing too much, beside some butts and some back sides, without any pornographic content, I need to say directly to Facebook that the quantity of aggressive videos and images that have been posted or uploaded there not being blocked, is shocking me. Even if it maybe was a bit more erotic, than some people might expect, the fact is that this social network is not blocking terror supporters — and I am talking directly about ISIS fan pages, groups (private or not) that promote and put those bad messages even deeper into our society.
Videos where cats are being burnt in public streets, and people are being punched, photos with fanatic religious texts or even other words or languages promoting the use of weapons, and other kind of promotional material through our world supporting the threats to our lives as global community, as citizens and even as human beings.
Videos against homosexuals, photos against human rights written on United Nations declarations for this matter, are not being blocked. Groups of radicals still being done on those social networks, and nobody does anything about it, but when it shows two men doing love, spreading their affections, two women or even men and women, those are constantly blocked. My profile is being blocked for 30 days.
I want to state, that I’d rather hear of teenagers starting sex in early times, because they want to try it (freely and without pressure), and I’d rather hear of people to start making love, sex, kiss or other kinds of affections that I believe this world needs, than being afraid to enter in any kind of public transport waiting for a bomb to explode, waiting for my rights as human and as citizen being denied by those who believe that they have power and right to force me to follow their rules.
Our differences is what makes us all different and unique.
Like I always say we are all an improved prototype of who raised us. I call it evolution, and this happen blind good and for bad.
I don’t want Facebook to force Russia to accept LGBT communities, or China to allow Facebook, I want those social networks to focus in what is really important and stop the ways of communication that are making those terrorism attacks possible, those radicals able to spread the word and cast new soldiers. I’d rather see kids stopping the use of weapons and block their access to it. I want less informed people to get real information without manipulation or promotion of any kind of activities that go against each country regulation or worldwide legislation, we are 7 billion people on this planet, 300 million daily active on Facebook, and 270 countries that have been in some kind of war for power since we create them, but it is time for unification.
I need to speak for me, for my community and mostly for all those artists that, as myself, are actors, producers and also in other positions in production for adults. Sex is not bad, every culture has its own rules, every religion has its own faith. I want to let you know that nobody can refuse the right for freedom of speech.
And this goes to my support as well to Apple Inc., that they might have become the biggest company in the world and powerful enough to say no to the FBI, but I’d rather my privacy 100% protected than allowed the world to break it and put my life or the life of my beloveds in danger, just because the government isn’t investing enough energy in regulation or in homeland security. If the FBI works better with NSA and CIA (as well as every other similar organization) they will be able to predict more attacks of terror, and they will not need Apple to develop a tool that can be copied by bad intentional hackers working for those same organizations of radicals, of people that spread terror, some with religious reasons, some just for fun, and some for the insane human problem of revenge or jealousy.
So this is my open letter to Facebook, my name is Fostter Riviera and I am a adult performer, actor, human rights activist, diversity supporter, and loud speaker.
