All set for the first workshop for ReDI students at our office

Two weeks ago, we at Beck et al. started our first session in the series of DevOps workshops that will be conducted over the next 3 months. This session primarily dealt with knowing the students and introducing the concept of AWS Cloud, an Agile workflow model of software development. For this workshop, we were joined by our founder Siegfried Lautenbacher, who started with the history of Beck et al. and its evolution over the years. After this brief overview, the next activity focussed on getting to know the students, which was done in a light-hearted fashion through the following questions:

1.What are you thinking in your mind as of now?

2. How do you feel in your heart?

3. What have you left behind while coming to workshop?

The answers to these questions were intriguing and helped to get the conversation going.

In the second half of the workshop, our Cloud Architect Fernando Schubert, who remotely joined us from Brazil, introduced the concept of Agile Development and how it enables efficient and quality software development. Following this introduction, the workshop moved on to explain the concept of Cloud and how DevOps has brought in a new aspect to the software development process and its related operations, from server provisioning to automated code deployment pipeline. We were glad to see the curiosity of the students to the topics that were introduced.

In fact, after the workshop was over, all of the students were eager to know the schedule of the next workshop and looking forward to hands-on sessions on the AWS cloud. On this positive note, we completed our very first workshop. The workshop was also supported by Muneeza Qureshi, Michael Fischbacher, Thomas Nestl and myself.

We are looking forward to this exciting journey along with ReDI in promoting diversity as we believe in working together.
