To be honest, when I started writing on Medium, I didn’t really believe that I would actually make money.

So when I decided to write regularly, even though I signed up as a “Friends of Medium”, I didn’t join the partner program because I wanted to see the data first to see if my posts would be read.

I also wasn’t sure if I would be motivated to actually write regularly. It seemed like it would be hard for me to come up with ideas and make time for the writing process. But then I realized that even though I was productive at work, it didn’t make me happy.

I felt an impulsive need to produce something, but I didn’t know how to do it. My friends had always encouraged me to write because they found the way I expressed myself on social media and my style interesting, but I was scared by the self-doubt problems I was having at work.

However, the statistics of my articles motivated me to write and Gökhan Yalçuk’s posts encouraging me to write could not keep me away any longer and I joined the partner program.

The steps I followed when I joined the partner program were also thanks to Gökhan Yalçuk’s articles.

The first money I earned from one article was 0.47$. Of course, it increased over time, I even started to earn more than 3$ from a single article and I’m getting better and better, but none of them give me the pleasure of that 0.47$.

If I can’t get motivated again someday in the future, I want to remember the joy of producing something, even if it is small, and getting paid for it.
