It’s Over When It’s Over So why do we hang on so tightly?

Situations, events, relationships, jobs, people — everything in life ends eventually; sometimes sooner, sometimes later. Even when it’s over and we know we need to let go, we hang on tightly. Why is it so hard to move on? What keeps us clinging to someone or something long past the use-by date? How can we take the plunge and let go when it’s so safe hanging on?
