Announcing Beep Boop Insights and our new Slack App

Updates from the Slack bot trenches

We’re pleased to introduce a new Beep Boop app available in the Slack App Directory! You can control projects, peruse logs, see recent build activity and even chat with our team from the comfort of your own Slack team! It runs on Beep Boop just like any other project and is proudly built with Slapp and the new Events API. We were recently featured on the Slack Platform blog where we shared lessons learned, key design decisions and our best attempts at humor.

A day’s Insights, activity, and detail

We unveiled a brand new experiment this week at the Slack Developers Meetupat Slack HQ in San Francisco called Insights! Any project that uses the Event API, Interactive Message Buttons, Slash Commands or Outgoing Webhooks can view the last 24hrs of project activity. Not using the Events API yet because of a long term relationship with the RTM? 🙅 Here’s one more reason to change it up.

All you need to do is head to your project’s “Status” tab and look for our two friends shown above. Touch the “View Insights” button.

A days worth of activity

Here you can see the teams who have interacted with your Slack app and drill into the gory details of every single message. We’re continuing to improving this view, for example, just today added a nice JSON “diff” for message_changed events (shown below). This is just the beginning so let us know what you think 😉.

Custom “Add to Slack” Redirects

Ever want to send your users to a custom landing page after they add your Slack app to their team? Well, now you can! It’s now possible to specify a custom redirect URL for after a successful “Add to Slack” OAuth flow. Just look for it at the bottom of your project’s “Settings” tab.
