Jared: Joe, what do you think about drips as well?
Joe: it’s really interesting to try and solve the problem in community building and reputation management across social and their leveraging web3 to do that.
Jared: (asking Filippo) Who you are and what is your product?
He then gives us a little background about himself.
With a professional background based in Italy and a residence in China for the past five years, I have been fortunate enough to work with various companies and partnerships in diverse industries. My journey has led me to the technology sector where I have been able to develop my expertise through various roles, including working with a company that specializes in artificial intelligence for wearable technology and eventually moving onto the gaming industry.
In the previous year, I had the opportunity to connect with the founder and engage in discussions on topics surrounding the creator economy and ownership economy. We explored various possibilities on how to support creators in their career growth and livelihoods. Initially, we considered developing a social media token platform; however, we soon discovered that it would be difficult to sustain this model. One of the main reasons for this was the lack of understanding among creators on how tokenomics works.
Jared : How does popula works in this space?
Filippo: As we continued our research, we recognized the limitations of our initial approach and reevaluated our thinking on how to best support creators and their communities. Through this process, we came to understand that in the Web3 space, communities are the atomic unit, rather than the virtual environment itself. This realization shifted our focus towards developing a community-oriented platform that would provide creators and their communities with the tools to grow and thrive.
Our ultimate goal with Popula is to empower communities by providing them with a high-quality, engaging platform that fosters ownership, sovereignty, and connection among members. By enabling communities to have greater control over their data and analytics, and rewarding them with reputation points, we aim to facilitate a faster rate of growth and development for these communities, ultimately creating a more vibrant and robust Web3 ecosystem.
Jared: How do you connect Popula with other social media platforms? I mean is it possible?
Filippo: Popula recognizes the importance of relationships between different social media platforms and seeks to enable seamless interactions between them. For instance, creators can share their content on Popula to other platforms like Twitter, informing their followers about what’s happening on the Popula platform.
While moving communities from one platform to another can be a challenging process, Popula’s on-chain infrastructure enables a more streamlined approach to migration.
