You may think naysayers are bad for business. But they can actually be a critical component to your success.

Hey storytellers.

Naysayers can be good, m’kay.

Let me explain with a story about a $450 t-shirt. 🤯

There’s a new shop in the mall near me. It sells hype brands and streetwear. Think Bape, Supreme, etc.

It’s not uncommon to find $50, $100, even $150 t-shirts from these brands. Crazy, right? Well, hold on to your shorts.

The hypest (my story — I can make up words) of them all Off-White.

They leave that $150 level in the dust. Not with $200 or $250, but to $450!

Many would be embarrassed to wear a $450 t-shirt story on their chest. Others are empowered by it.

People say, “$450 for a t-shirt is insane!”

But, it’s not $450 for a t-shirt. It’s $25 for the t-shirt and $425 for the story.

You probably think that’s insane and therefore not for you. Here’s the rub…

You’re a critical part of the equation.

If you didn’t think it was insane it would have far less value.

Let me say that again.

If you didn’t think it was insane it would have far less value!

The genius isn’t in being expensive. If it was they’d simply charge $200 (still more than pretty much any other hype brand).

Off-White is $450. They’re not going for “expensive.” They’re going for “insane.”

That’s brazen, pedal to the metal, Mach 3 storytelling.

Likely not for you, which is why it’s successful.

So…

Maybe the key to success in some area of your business is to craft such an effective story, and price your offering so brazenly, that the few who buy more than make up for the many who don’t.
