Winning stories don’t happen by accident. I’ve got your cheat code.

Hey storytellers.

I have a free cheat sheet for you to craft more compelling and persuasive stories.

It summarizes what I covered on LinkedIn this week. Don’t follow along? Well, c’mon then.

It’s called the R.S.P.C.T. Framework and is part of my field of Behavioral Storytelling.

Behavioral Storytelling is the crafting of stories based on how people process information and make decisions.

Here are the elements of the framework:

R — What’s the REAL problem? The stated problem is rarely the REAL problem. Keep peeling back the layers until you find the underlying REAL problem. Ask “why” until there is nowhere else to go.

S — What’s at STAKE? What pain, that your audience wants to avoid, is at STAKE if the REAL problem doesn’t get solved? Quantifiable is better than squishy. No stakes, no problem.

P — What’s the PERFECT outcome? If they could wave a magic wand and make the REAL problem go away, what would be the PERFECT outcome? Describe it in a way that can be felt, not just thought.

C — What’s your CALL-to-action? How does your offering solve the REAL problem, alleviate what’s at STAKE, and deliver the PERFECT outcome? Tap into how people process information and make decisions.

T — TESTIMONIALS / Social Proof. As Seth Godin said, “People like us do things like this.” How will embracing your solution put your audience in the good company of others like them. Offer social proof.
