More than 30 of Newsquest’s editors from across the UK came together in London for their annual Strategy Day.
The day — on July 11 — was hosted by Newsquest CEO Henry Faure Walker and editorial director Toby Granville who talked about a number of exciting initiatives being launched.
Henry Faure Walker said: “Our great local journalism is a bedrock of our communities and will be underpinned by our powerful marketing solutions that help businesses grow and reach new customers.”
He also told editors how Newsquest’s 100,000 stories published per month had more than 75% penetration in their local market — considerably higher than Facebook’s 50%.
Sam Shepherd, the group’s Digital Content, Social and Audience Manager led presentations on online growth by Newsquest editors Karl Holbrook, Arron Hendy and Steve Smith — while Bournemouth Echo reporter Alex Winter revealed how her stories are achieving more than a million page views every month.
Granville said: “This editorial strategy day was the best yet. We have the most talented editors in the business — and I’m delighted that they are going to be taking our editorial strategy to the next level and ensure we have a successful future.”
