JPIMedia launches ‘open for business’ free listings service for essential services

JPIMedia has launched a new service aimed at supporting those businesses which are continuing to trade in spite of Coronavirus.

Open For Business service is a free listing for all businesses still providing essential services for their customers. The move is an extension of the #supportlocal campaign which has been championing local firms which have been adapting and evolving to keep themselves afloat since the coronavirus pandemic took hold.

Mark Waldron, editorial director for Hampshire and interim Group Commercial Content Editor, said: ‘From reporting on the everyday acts of kindness of both friends and strangers to applauding our health heroes and other key workers, our role remains in championing our communities.

‘Many of our local businesses are currently closed under lockdown. But for those still working even harder to keep their customers served we are spreading the word that they are still ‘Open for Business’ in the knowledge that our readers will continue to use them.’

Open for Business offers a free listing in newspapers across JPIMedia, with businesses having the opportunity to pay for enhanced listings. An online Google Map version is ready to roll out.

Clare Anderson, JPIMedia Head of Commercial Content and Video Sales, said: ‘As just one part of #supportlocal, Open for Business ensures communities remain connected. The directory is an opportunity for businesses to let readers know they are still there for them. And it gives our readers the opportunity to know where to turn to, whether it’s being reassured that the corner shop is still open to having that take-away meal left safely on your doorstep.

‘As we await the day when restrictions begin to be lifted it also gives us a platform to shout even louder as more businesses return to life and re-open their doors.’
