Sheffield Star unveils new-look website for JPIMedia titles
The Sheffield Star has become the first JPIMedia brand to launch the company’s new-style websites.
Company chief executive David King wrote to staff following the relaunch of thestar.co.uk, which in turn follows the relaunch of the company’s mobile news apps earlier this year.
Describing the new website as a ‘mobile first platform,’ Mr King said the new website in Sheffield loads three seconds faster than the old site, and has fewer intrusive ads than the old template.
Mr King said: “With roughly 75% of our audiences now visiting us via a mobile device, it is imperative we provide our users with the best possible experience and this new website does just that.
“The site loads up to 3 seconds faster than our old site, it is lighter, simpler with less intrusive ads and puts content at the heart of the user experience.
“More new features are being added to the site over the coming weeks including the ability to swipe to next article and a new live blog template.”
Other titles in the company’s North Midlands and South Yorkshire division will move across to the new platform in the coming weeks, with all JPIMedia titles due to move across during 2019.
