I See You — Do You See Me?

Beneath the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors

Here I am, raw, true
Perfectly imperfect me.
Do you see me now?

Beneath all the muck, all the thoughts, feelings, behaviors, all the games and the acting out and the conditioning and the patterns we play and replay in our lives, is our true self — our authentic self — our true being.

We all ultimately just want to be seen, to be known as we are, yet so many of us don’t even know who we ourselves are, for to do so, to truly know our true selves, we must be willing to go within and explore — to do deep inner work.

Who would you be if you didn’t have to hide, pretend, or please others?

Being Known is a small publication, a community, where writers share of themselves from the heart — courageously stepping out to be known. When you submit a story — I see you, others see you. But where else in our lives might we step out and be seen as we are?

This April I invite us all to see and be seen — and to allow others the space to be seen by us — true, real, raw, and without judgment.

Tag this poem and share with us your version of I see you.
