L onging, belonging, craving for touch!
O bliging to all eerie whims
V ague promises with starry dreams —
E scalate emotions, as of late!

I mmaculate words, and possessive fits
S hallow actions, bejeweled with jealous bits.

P ointless drama to surpass it all
A cquired passions headed to amass
I nviting arms? Doesn’t seem true no more?
N otions of freedom floating in my head?

The general idea of a toxic relationship is a bond that hurts either one or both of the involved parties. It can be in the form of expecting too much, taking for granted, constantly demeaning the other person, putting on too many expectations, jealousy, possessiveness, etc. It can be hidden in the most subtle details or it can be seen in the most obvious signs such as physical violence. One definition from Hey Sigmund is,

A toxic relationship contaminates your self-esteem, your happiness and the way you see yourself and the world.

On this note, please be aware that toxic relationships are not only romantic in nature. There are toxic friends, colleagues, relatives, siblings, and so on. Anything or anyone that doesn’t give you joy, doesn’t belong in your thoughts and your life.

An acrostic poem is a poem where certain letters in each line spell out a word or phrase. The inspiration behind an acrostic poem emerged from Laura and Joe. Thank you both! :)
