I thought I knew you
your face made ugly new tricks
sometimes harsh and hard
I entered a lonely place
seeking solace for my heart
Thank you to Heather C Holmes for inviting me to try a tanka poem which I had no idea what that was. Like haiku, it has a rhythm of syllables, totaling thirty-one syllables in a 5–7–5–7–7 format. It’s quite a challenge! Thank you for reading.
