I have always thought of life as a box of surprises. It feels like I am in the passenger seat flying the plane on my own journey. Parts of my life, such as my geographic location, the people I worked with, and my daily routines that I thought were bound to have my control just by having self-discipline.

But even with my logic and discipline, there were stuff that I just could not control. I have experienced love growing faded away, the sting of a friend’s betrayal, sudden illness, moments of doubt of beliefs once thought upon. These uncontrollable components were hard to deal with, for the same as with most individuals, I crave control. It gives empowerment toward security, reducing concerns not just for myself but the persons I cared about.

But I was thinking, life doesn’t always play by the rules of our plans. It follows its own mysterious path, oftentimes seemingly indifferent to what we want. Then came the much bigger questions: How do I face very many unknowns in life? How do I cope with constant fear?
