I was a huge consumer of self-help books, content, and related materials. I am not going to say I quit, but I think we have been led down countless paths promising quick transformations, and we have found nothing. Literally nothing. I mean things like “Think positive,” “Set rigid goals.” “Recite daily affirmations.” falling short, being ineffective, and sometimes even leaving us worse off than before.

What if there is a better way? Is there a method that honors our individuality while being grounded in scientific research?

The Problem with Traditional Self-Help

I wish I could pinpoint one issue in traditional self-help content and their very famous gurus; however, there are countless issues. For example, (1) they often focus narrowly on a single aspect of life while neglecting all other aspects. And, when you follow their narrowed recommendations and fail, you become the one to blame. Is this fair? (2) They offer cookie cutter solutions…
