2 Must-Have Cholesterol and Triglyceride Lowering Supplements

With almost 94 million Americans over the age of 20 with high total cholesterol, there’s no wonder why alternative therapies and treatments are always in high demand. When it comes to nutritional supplements there is a lot of second guessing on what might or might not work. Truthfully there is solid research on a wide variety of nutrients from red yeast rice to ginger to garlic but that doesn’t mean you should take all of them. (1)

In my opinion, throwing a bunch of different supplements at the problem is not the answer. Results come with consistency and if I recommend that someone takes 5 different supplements, I lower the chance of success.

That’s why I favor just two different supplements for cholesterol health: omega-3 fish oil and berberine.

Omega 3 fish oil has numerous published benefits including healthy skin, lower inflammation, reduction in blood pressure, increased fat loss and brain boosting. But how can omega-3 fish oil help to improve our cholesterol and triglycerides?(2)

Fish Oil lowers overall heart disease risk while also directly lowering triglyceride levels. It may be in these indirect ways that fish oil lowers cholesterol. (3)
