They are both different in their effectiveness

The Polio vaccine was so effective it obliterated the Polio epidemic around the world. Because of widespread vaccinations, Polio was eradicated in the United States in 1979. Our success rate with Polio makes many people say: “The eradication of Polio should remind us of the effectiveness of vaccines and how we managed to obliterate the disease with widespread vaccinations.”

But can we make the same assumption about the Covid-19 vaccine and say that we’ll achieve the same level of success in eradicating the Sars-Cov-2 virus with the current vaccine?

I’m pro-vaccine and would like to believe that it would be the case. I marvel at the scientific research and discoveries of highly effective vaccines that had been developed in the previous decades. As an optimist, I try to be hopeful, but at the same time, I also like to look at things from a realistic perspective.

No vaccine is the same

Over many years, scientists have created many vaccines that elicit different types of immunity. Some vaccines work faster and more efficiently than others. Many vaccines are effective at eradicating the disease. Polio is a great example of such a vaccine.
