I’m a nutritionist and I have spent thousands of hours digging deep into scientific studies to find out the cause or causes of obesity and insulin resistance, as the two are strongly associated.

Unfortunately, Western medicine currently has no cure. The cause of insulin resistance remains largely unknown.

The standard approach for those suffering from insulin resistance is to lose weight and maintain a healthier lifestyle.

That, however, is easier said than done.

People with insulin resistance have a very difficult time losing weight, even with increased exercise, and reduced-calorie diets.

Even low-carb diets can make insulin resistance worse.

From my research, I believe we may be looking at obesity from the wrong perspective.

What if what appears to be “body fat” in many cases, is trapped fluid (edema), in body cavities, tissues, and cells?

And what if edema is due to undernutrition, or a calorie deficit?
