How Guys Over 40 Get And Stay Ripped

Once you hit 40 are you doomed to increasingly difficult gains, more belly fat, less testosterone and just not feeling good? Why is it that everyone says “once I hit 40 it got hard to lose weight”?
When I was 19 I remember reading a bodybuilding magazine supplement ad for a testosterone booster. It showed some “study” that suggested once you hit 21 years of age, that your testosterone naturally decreases. I thought to myself “no way am I just doomed to lower and lower testosterone levels every year”.
There’s this magical line of demarcation that exists where suddenly you become heavy, slow and weak when you hit your 40th birthday yet it didn’t happen the day before when you were 39. Surprisingly there are a few potential strategies that you can use to get ripped and stay ripped over 40.
Your Mindset
You can’t operate with this mindset of “well I’m 40”. Sure, recognize that you get older but your body composition at 40 is more of a function of your diet and lack of time to exercise due to family, work and life commitments than it is to some magical slowing down of your metabolism due to your age.
This negative connotation with aging is everywhere in society and impacts males and females equally but in different ways. When you’re in your late 30’s or 40’s, people in their 20’s think of you as old, they like to make comments. Don’t let that get to you, if anything use it as a challenge to show them what your age should look like.
No matter how connected we are. No matter how much information spreads in society, we still operate with old norms. A 40 year old is supposed to have a gut, no muscle definition and not be active. Society still ingrains that in people to this day. Plus I’m willing to venture the majority of people in their 40’s actually look like a “typical” 40 year old.
Rage…rage against the dying of the light.
Your Foundation Reveals Your Habits
This is not to be negative but hopefully, you have a solid fitness foundation by the time you hit 40. It’s a lot easier to look how you want to look at 40 when you’ve looked like that in your 30’s. You’re not condemned to failure however. Your habits are what change your body composition and if you get those…
