I am an oncologist.

I need to keep my mind sharp.

I often talk about how physical activity benefits my body.

Today, I want to share five ways to keep my mind sharp and agile.

Do you engage in stimulating activities that can improve memory, cognitive function, and creativity? And might it offer some protection against age-related decline?

Here are my three favorite brain exercises that help me keep my mind in shape.

1. I Visualize

I use visualization to create a mental picture representing information, like a movie in my mind.

This mental movie can help me organize my thoughts and make better decisions.

For example, before I go to the grocery store, I might picture myself driving there, strolling the aisles, and choosing specific items to buy.

I use such mental rehearsals to make myself more prepared and efficient.

My visualization is especially effective if I use vivid, detailed imagery.
