First quarter 2019, done and done! The year is zooming by and we are not letting it zoom past us here at Beirut AI. We’ve had a very exciting year so far and March was no different! (check out January and February here)

Here’s what you can expect from us.

Be a Part of the Action! The Beirut AI University Ambassador Program

Earlier this year we started a university ambassador program in an effort to provide AI education to all students. Because of our program, we were able to conduct workshops at both AUST (March 7) and BAU (March 29). The workshops allowed the participants to get familiar with the world of AI both through verbal and hands-on training!

Beirut Arab University workshop

At the workshop we explained and experimented with the full process of creating an AI model, from loading the data and cleaning it, to visualizing it and building the model to make predictions.

If you want to get a glimpse of what we do check out our Github repository.

AUST workshop

Our goal with this program is to run workshops across all the universities in Lebanon! If you are passionate about AI or you want to be a part of this new wave as an ambassador for Beirut AI contact us at beirut@city.ai.

Mingle! Artificial Intelligence Meetups with Berytech

We got the opportunity to partner with Berytech on our second Artificial Intelligence meetup this month (with a third collaboration on the way, stay tuned to April 17th!). This meetup featured three speakers each highlighted a different aspect of the AI ecosystem based on their experiences within it.

KAUST’s Dr. Bernard Ghanem got the crowd excited about the opportunities AI presents to students within academic fields and how it allows them to transition into the market. IdeaToLife’s Ali Zein highlighted the many issues that one may face creating a company with AI applications. Last but not least, Beirut AI’s very own Christophe Zoghbi discussed the importance of training the next generation to adjust their skillset to the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The conversations were never-ending with there existed an undying excitement towards this field that is proving to be a prominent part of our future.

Ready to Get Your Hands Dirty? The First International Data Science Hackathon (April 12–14)

We are ready to take on challenges! Let’s show the world the talent Lebanon has in AI. We are hosting the first International Data Science Hackathon on the AUST campus from April 12th to the 14th. We know you’ve got what it takes! If you’re a university student with the tenacity to build and grow in the world of Data Science we want you to join us. After all, the best way to learn how to swim is to jump into the water.
