For the Beloved September challenge: Silly Season Love — It was the first day of summer camp, and like every other kid there, I was a bundle of excitement and nerves
The campsite was bustling with activity: kids unloading bags, staff assigning cabins, and parents saying their goodbyes.
Amidst it all, I noticed a girl with long, dark hair and curious eyes that seemed to take in everything around her. I would later learn her name was Rosario.
Rosario and I ended up in the same group and clicked almost instantly.
We spent most of our days together, exploring the campsite, playing games, and sharing stories about home and our families.
One day, I decided to teach her how to fish, so we could enter the camp fishing contest. She looked horrified when I showed her the worm she had to put on the hook.
“Ew, Stephen! It’s so slimy!” she exclaimed, making a face. She scrunched up her nose so much it was impossible not to laugh.
