“All religions are paths to God,” said Pope Francis on September 13th, during a visit to Singapore. Christians around the world did an about face. Isn’t their religion the only one that works?
That’s the usual talk. I’m following the story of the leader of the Catholic church appearing to reverse the course of Christianity itself. Are religions just “paths” to the same place?
This isn’t Pope Francis’ first time suggesting that his religion is just one “path.”
He been making such comments since 2019, when he signed a pact with a prominent Imam, saying God intended there be multiple religions.
“The pluralism and the diversity of religions, colour, sex, race and language are willed by God in His wisdom, through which He created human beings…”
Pope Francis kept up similar talk over the next several years. But he has never gone so far as to say that all religions basically “work.”
