Family conflict had come to a point that I’d tried to avoid. My parents looked me over, and decided that I was going to Hell.
Oh dear, I thought. Another family reunion.
They didn’t want me in their family, and I realized I didn’t want their religion. It was a lot for one day: losing parents who judged you, and the Evangelical Christianity that told them they could.
