For years, Democrats worked to get Republicans fired for online comments in the “cancel culture” phenomenon. In the days after Charlie Kirk’s assassination, Republicans had the same idea.

After years of crying about “cancel culture,” the right took the left’s playbook, added some improvements, and turned it into a war machine.

I’m looking over the story of the last days, as many progressive Democrats were targeted for firing by a sudden army of right-wing researchers.

When Charlie Kirk was declared dead, progressive America popped the champagne.

It was seen in the media, as when staffers for TMZ were recorded laughing and clapping when the announcement was made.

A Republican got the ball rolling. Matthew Dowd was a former aide to George W. Bush turned talking head on cable news. He happened to be on MS-NBC when the shooting occurred, and offered that “hateful thoughts lead to hateful words which ultimately lead to hateful actions.”
